To be read ...

Synopsis (from amazon)
Carmen, Tibby, Lena and Bridget have been best friends all their lives. They live in the same small American town and usually spend every moment of their long summer holidays together. The year they turn 16 is the first time they have separate plans for the summer but the girls are determined to keep in touch. Tibby buys a pair of jeans in a second-hand shop and the girls discover that the trousers magically fit each of them perfectly, despite their different figures and heights. They hit upon a wonderful plan of sharing the jeans throughout the vacation - sending them on to the next friend when they feel the time is right. From Baja California to Greece, from film-making to football, the girls - and the traveling pants - encounter first love, family upset and fatal illness. Secure in the knowledge that their friendship is constant - and the symbol of it need never be more than a parcel-delivery away - the girls survive their summer and return home with a wealth of new experiences to share. A perfect teen-chick summer read; a quirky, humorous and memorable cut above the rest.

Very enjoyable teen read , perfect for light comfort reading ... the stories of Tibby, Carmen, Lena and Bridget are fun, sometimes sad and heartbreaking, but generally full of humour and witty !! Now I desperately want to read the next volumes, so off I'm going to amazon again ;-)

Fun Fun Fun! It didn't had your average chick-lit (or teen-lit) the characters, and I don't think that was only because it was a coming-of-age book.
Take Bridget, she was my favourite, it's rare to find in these stories a confident girl and not turn her into The Bitch. But here, you gotta love Bridget!

The quotes were also great and I couldn't help laughing out loud in some of them:

"When life hands you a lemon, say, "Oh yeah, I like lemons. What else ya got?"
Henry Rollins

"Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way , when you criticize them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes."
Fried Norris

Wow, what a lovely book! :) It was great to get to know Lena, Tibby, Carmen and Bridget during this summer. Made me feel nostalgic of my long summer vacations (even if nothing that interesting happened then).
My fave character was also Bridget (maybe because of the hair? ;D) but I could relate to Lena's shyness, even if I'm not beautiful :)
Thanks tho for forcing me to take this book with me :)

I knew I'd love this book! :o)
It's probably the first book I've read that doesn't treat teenagers like air heads. These four friends are very believable, they could be your next door neighbours, their stories could be ours. I really can't pick a favourite among the four of them, each one is special in her own way. Surprisingly the character that stood out for me was Bailey, she was great and it's funny how in so little time she was able to teach Tibby to really look at people and not only their weird features.
Of course now I want to read the rest of these books. Thanks again tho!
