This book just blew me away! What a story. It reminded me in some ways of Catcher In The Rye which is quite a compliment. It's very hard to describe this book without giving too much away. The style is very different and is written in the way that I can imagine the main characters thinking. Its hard hitting, very direct and painful to read at times. But do read it if you get a chance as it will surely leave some impression on you. Amazing to think that this is the authors first book.

Given to Flambard - hope you enjoy
A mean, vicious, angry and disorienting little book. I really enjoyed the story and the twist at the end (and am very pleased I hadn't seen the film first). My only problem with it was the author's cavalier attitude towards grammar (deliberate?) and his sickeningly habitual use of one-word paragraphs, both I presume for dramatic effect, which I thought he milked for all they were worth - and beyond. I hope the author grows up a bit.

WILD RELEASE NOTES:
I haven't seen the film but I've heard that it's good, and I usually prefer the books to films anyway. I was there with my Mum (bitstobuy) - we must have just missed you by minutes flambard!
Finished this last night, and really enjoyed it. Was a very quick read, but gripping. I'm glad that I haven't seen the film, I don't think I would have enjoyed it, but the book was definately worth reading. Well recommended. I will pass it on to my sister who is going on holiday soon to the Maldives - hopefully she will enjoy it and leave it there to continue it's journey.
My sister passed this on to me, I will take it on holiday with me next week.
Quite disturbing, I'm quite squeamish so a few bits turned my stomach. I've seen the film so I already knew the ending which ruined it a bit. I generally prefer books to films but with this one I think I liked the film more.
