Irving is one of my favorite authors, and this is one of his best. I haven't seen the movie, but I'm sure the book is much, much better. How could you not love a book in which the family has a pet bear?
I already have a copy of my own at home, but I found this copy at the Austin Public Library's Monster Book Sale for a good price.

Just caught this book. I plan to read it this week and release it as soon as I can.
This was my first John Irving book, and I thought it was great. A must-read for someone wanting quality writing and a compelling plot. And of course, you just gotta love a family with a pet bear.
