Amy Tan is a wonderful writer. Her dialog rings true and her characters are a delight. I'm always on the lookout for her newest book.
Journal Entry 2 by alsomama at Borders downtown (UBCZ) in Seattle, Washington USA on Monday, November 11, 2002
Release planned for Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at BookCrossing Meetup @ Borders in downtown Seattle in Seattle, Washington USA.
I'll be releasing this book and others at the Seattle BookCrossing Meetup in downtown Seattle at Borders Books, Tuesday evening at 7PM. Beware it IS on 4th Avenue, across from the Westlake Mall and NOT on 4th Avenue South next to Safeco Field. Somehow on the Meetup page the address is wrong. See you Tuesday evening! Bring books! Meet at the cafe.

Got it from alsomama herself at the Seattle BookCrossing Meetup. I will read it as soon as I'm done reading Jaws (which I can't read in the bathtub anymore because it makes me scared of the water).
This book was wonderful! It was the first time I've read anything by Amy Tan, and it won't be my last. It took a few chapters for me to really get into it. Then on the last day I was reading it, I read for about 4 hours, stopping only when my boyfriend moaned about me just grunting through the book when he asked me questions. I didn't realize how little I knew about the second world war and China.
Got the book at a Meetup, Dec 10th. I haven't read it yet, but I plan to.
