Well - probably the last book I'll read in 2006! And what a cracker - All the elements of an Octavia Butler novel that make her one of my favourite authors: Set in a Mad Max type landscape, the harbingers of a new order try and retain their humanity. This is classic Butler exploring the race issue from a new angle. One of her first novels - I can see the seeds of her later novels.

Will be reserving this for the 'B' bookswap.

This felt like a very different read to the Parable series... I did enjoy it but found it a very quick read indeed! I liked the way it flicked between the past and the present and I really liked the characters Butler created. I would have liked to know more about the organisms and their evolution/invasion but it was a great read even without knowing... Thanks for sharing!

Haven't been actively bookcrossing in a long time due to other things getting in the way and still am not but re-read this book recently and keep on enjoying it! Intend to release it shortly so it can continue on its journey - although the snowy weather may not help!
