This was well written, thoughtful and colourful, but it did feel as if there was something missing. I think there was too much scene setting and not enough character development.

I am going to pass this book on unread, as I didn't realise that it was a Young Adult book when I picked it up.

I really liked this book, it's mythical, would suit someone (like me) who likes Harry Potter. Has a ecological message which is good. The characters were stereotypes but there was a twist to it.

Picked up from ReetPetite at the BCUK Unconvention. Having read the sequel, I'm looking forward to finding out what happened in the beginning! Thanks, ReetPetite!

Well, I have finally gotten around to finishing this book, having started it last July! While I did enjoy the book, I did think it was lacking something and never really sparked a fire of real interest for me. I have read some great stories by Isabel Allende, and would certainly say this is not one of her best. For me, the ecological points were hammered home with a mallet, completely overdone, losing any impact they may have had.
I will now pass it on to someone somewhere...
