Bird by Bird

I bought this in a charity shop. It's in excellent condition and is signed by the author.
A book about writing. Her greatest tips are, very much condensed:
observe everything in great detail and allow your characters to have their own life. Plus carry index cards or a notepad with you at all times to jot down your inspired thoughts!
Very easy to read, though her sense of humour didn't always appeal to me, she had a tendency to assume that all writers get stuck in troughs of misery all the time and she had a tendency to be quite nasty at times. However, some very useful insights into writing. I'm aiming to set this free at a writing workshop of some sort.

Well I've held onto this for long enough, so I'm offering it up as part of my Christmas Giveaway on my blog in the next few days.
