misschien eerst zelf nog lezen, voor ie naar de obcz gaat. vanmiddag in de trein al even in begonnen, maar ik merkte dat ik even verzadigd ben van berg-boeken.
een spannend boek, dat speelt in noord India en Pakistan. hij gaat op de stapel voor de blauwe bookbox

Ik vind het een openhartig boek. Waarin ook een beetje in beschreven wordt hoe zo'n expeditie in die tijd eigenlijk ging. Het noodlot hangt deze mensen steeds wel erg vlakbij boven het hoofd. Soms uit eigen keuze, meestal omdat de omstandigheden op dit deel van de bergen zo gevaarlijk zijn, dat de kans groot is dat je er iets aan overhoud of er achterblijft. En dan toch de drang om er mee door te gaan. Het weer, de permits, de werking van een groep klimmers, of is het wel een groep, de ene expeditie is de andere niet. Hoe ga je met elkaar om en met de porters..... en de porters met jou.
Een mooi boek over een schitterende omgeving. Wel blijf ik me verbazen over het gebrek aan voorbereidings- en veiligheidsmaatregelen die de bergbeklimmers nemen.
