Good read. The boy in the title is a young Edgar Allen Poe, who did live briefly in London, but it's not exactly an in-depth biography. It is, in fact, a well-researched and well-written historical thriller. For BX meetup tonight.

Picked up at the meet-up at the Stamford Arms - looks good

This was very good - an early nineteenth century thriller, given added spice by the 'what if' nature of Poe's final days.

This was gripping, well written and well researched. If I had one quibble, it was that the title and 'hinge' of the book was slightly contrived - while the events occured around the young Edgar Allan Poe, I wasn't convinced by the end that his presence was quite the key factor that we were led to believe, either by the narrator or the book's dust jacket! However, still a very good read.

Really pleased to have found one of these books, heard about scheme ages ago, great idea! I saw at once it was my kind of book, I am about half way through and really enjoying it at present. My teenage daughter started it but gave up as hated the school bullying, beatings. My mum also wants to read it over Christmas so we will keep it for a little while before releasing it again.
