This novel received the Whitbread Book of the Year 2003 - very well deserved.
From the back of the book:
"Christopher John Francis Boone knows all the countries of the world and their capitals and every prime number up to 7,057. He relates well to animals but has no understanding of human emotions. He cannot stand to be touched and he detests the color yellow.
The improbable story of Christopher's quest to investigate the suspicious death of a neighborhod dog makes for one of the most captivating, unusual, and widely hearlded novels in recent years."

Received today from bookwormmom2 in a controlled release - thanks! I'm looking forward to reading it. Your book is on its way.
Rarely does a book captivate me (or incite me to rate it as a "10") like this one does. I started reading it for myself, then began again reading aloud to my partner as we headed on a road trip. We couldn't put it down, and twice went on driving an extra hour into the night because it was so compelling. I do not know if the author has personal experience with autism, but I do, and did he ever capture the tenor of a voice of a person with autism effectively. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in experiencing the world in a different way, because he offers a portrait of that world with dignity and humour and tremendous sensitivity. What a story!
