A book on the radical animal rights movement in Sweden. The people profiled range from the very serious (political leaders, intelligent activists, researchers using animal testing to try and cure terrible diseases) to the hard-to-take-seriously (a teenager who compares himself to Ghandi, a young woman who "liberates" four chickens in order to contribute to the "revolution," etc.)

Linton is particularly strong when discussing the moralism of the vegan movement. This book was published in 2000, and many of Linton's predictions (that the animal-rights movement would become more linked to religion, that a US-style right-wing vegan movement would develop in Sweden...) have proven to be right on.

Linton is one of the few animal-rights authors who really is capable of looking at the movement from both inside and outside. He seems to be a believer of sorts himself - at least in part - but he treats everyone he covers with respect.
