Arrived in a gorgeous M-bag today which I haven't even had time to fully unpack (or journal, obviously...) This is from a book-xcerpting ring - fun! So I look forward to reading beyond the first page of this mysterious book. I see you haven't read it yet, so I can send it back to you when I'm done, if you like...

Read in Mallorca
Back to Mathilda and William, back to the Battle of Hastings and the Norman Conquest... this is apparently part of a series, but the fact that I hadn't read anything previous to this was not a problem. I had picked this up and put it down a while ago, so was pleasantly surprised to note that the story did catch and hold my interest. At times I found it a bit too dire for my mood, however - the bad guy is simply so unrelentingly bad, that I couldn''t wait to finish the story. On the whole I found it fairly interesting, but am not in despair that I don't have any of the others in this series. This book came to me as part of a bookcrossing excerpt game, and may go to a swap shelf in Arta, Mallorca.
(The way the excerpt game works, is you get an envelope from another participating bookcrosser, with a photocopy of a page from a certain number of books. The person who has put the excerpts in doesn't identify the books they're from, just who they are so they can be contacted. You photocopy a page from each book you want to put into the game. You choose books based on the excerpts in the envelope, and replace the ones you take out with the ones you've prepared. It's a fun way to trade books and discover new books and authors).

This book has been mooched by a long-time ERTG friend in Italy. It was stored in Mallorca when first mooched, so it had to be retrieved... then the book was waiting for travelling companions. Still not many have been selected, but as I was coming to France and the postal fee for books is still very low here, I decided I could send this off from here. Enjoy!
received from Sonia (Switzerland) through BM. Thanks a lot!
