Admit it: you've dreamed at some point in your life about living that idyllic New England life. Wearing wool crew-neck sweaters and ribbon belts, hanging out with girls with boys' names and boys with last names as their first names - Horton, Gates, Hunter, Cross - immersing yourself in academia while the leaves turn crunchy-orange in one of those collegiate New England autumns.

Lee Fiora dreamed about it too, and so she uprooted herself from a small Midwestern town to attend the fictional Ault School in Massachussetts.

I honestly wasn't expecting this book to be as good as it was. I expected enjoyable clichéd chick lit, but I got a stunningly articulate and perceptive coming-of-age story. Lee is at once likeable and exasperating, so "teenagey" is she in her certainty that she's the only person who could possibly feel so out of place. This is easily one of the best books I've read all year; I highly recommend it.
