Three girls, Jenny, Libby and Tia, have pacted together to be friends forever. Now they are grown up and Jenny is in a deep depression. She has recently been widowed, and her forever friends rally around to comfort and care for her and draw her out.

Jenny struggles to start doing things for herself, and is encouraged when a wounded dog shows up at her door and she makes an effort to feed and care for him. A neighbour points out her yard needs attention and she calls a Nursery for some things.

Then she learns some more devastating news.

Eventually, Jenny learns to reach out and to start making decisions for herself again, but this story demonstrates the advantage of having close friends to stand by one.

Naturally, there is a romance angle too, woven in very well, as Jenny gets to know the gardener who is turning her yard into a lovely paradise.

It's really no suprise that Judy Baer has now written Libby's story, and then also Tia's. Each time showing how the other friends rally round and help out the hurting one. I'll pass on attempting to finish this trilogy.
