Very touching.
I loved this book while growing up. It was written the year I was born and set in the area in which I lived as a child. I've been looking for a copy to share with my boyfriend for a long time now, so a thousand thanks to banditvixen for sending it to me!
I enjoyed this book very much. I liked Blaine's character, as he was a very adventurous young man. This book evoked many emotions, making me laugh at some times, and tear up at others. I found it easy to sympathize with Blaine during his trials, and I found myself rejoicing with him in his triumphs. I only wish that Monica Hughes would have written a sequel to Blaine's Way, so that I could read about his life between where the young Blaine's story leaves off, and the old Blaine starts telling it.
This book was at least as enjoyable for me now as it was when I was little. It's very touching, and it's so easy to relate to Blaine, in spite of the fact that he lives and grows up in such a different time than my own.
I was slightly misinformed about the setting of the book when I was a child (my guess is that whoever told me how far away Blaine's town was mixed up two towns that have similar names), and it's not set quite as close to my childhood home as I thought it was. It's still quite close, however; I've never lived as much as an hour away from Blaine's home.
A friend of scared4's and mine wants to read this book, so I will pass it along to her next!
Thanks once again, banditvixen, and I hope all the future readers of Blaine's Way enjoy this book as much as I do!
EDIT: 19 Sept. 2005, This book has been sent to the friend I mentioned earlier, who lives in New Hamburg, ON.

I got this book from a friend who is a part of the bookcrossing community, because she had caught it and loved this book growing up and wanted to share it with me. I really did like it, it was very touching and moving, but a bit hard to get into. I remember thinking "Oh dear, what have I got myself into?" the first time I read it, but it grew on me and is now close to my heart.

Okay, here's the story:
The previous journaler, KnoxCaliver passed this book to me many years ago for me to read, but while I intended to read it for a long time, I never got around to it and forgot all about it. I recently found it in my collection of books and decided to finally read it and then release it again. So I started reading the book on my bus ride from Toronto to Kitchener. I started to really get into it and I was excited to keep reading it, but during the bus ride, I got very tired, and I ended up falling asleep, leaving Blane's Way on the seat beside me. Once the trip was over, I grabbed my bag and went on my way, not realizing that I had left the book on the seat beside me.
So, I'm going to be borrowing another copy of this book from JessicaEby and I'll read it and then post again about how I feel about it.
So, the book has hopefully been picked up from the Greyhound I left it on.
