Haven't read any Grisham novels lately and am glad I chose The Broker to get re-acquainted. This, so far, is my favorite of the Grisham novels.

We are all familiar with those famous last minute pardons granted during the final days of an outgoing Washington President. Well, that is what The Broker is about...a pardon for Joel Backman, a nortorious Washinton power broker whose power, greed, and secrets earned him a sentence of 14 years in prison. Thanks to the President, Backman is suddenly granted a pardon after serving only six years and the favor isn't for good behavior on Joel's part.

Read about Joel's pardon, smuggled out of the country, given a new name, a new identity, and a new home in Italy. You see, old Joel is the sole keeper of some secrets and software that may compromise the world's most hi-tech satellite surveillance system that not only the US, but Russians, Israelis, Chinese, and Saudis will all gladly kill for to be the first to get their hands on.

Turn those pages as Joel masters the Italian language and lifestyle while running for his life.

A good read!
