This splendid story of time travel and magic begins in Sydney with Megan Ellison, sole survivor of an automobile accident that took the lives of both her parents. She awakens in hospital, haunted by dreams and vague emeories, which are like fragments from a previous life.

Megan has grown up in Australia, but on her recovery must return to her family's native Wales. Even at her relatives' home she feels like a stranger, and the frightening dreams persist, until she meets Em, a brilliant and rebellious boy with nightmares of his own. Together, they discover Megan's true heritage and her special Gift - and Merryll's duty to right an ancient wrong. Through the ruins of a stone circle a fabulous adventure is begun, spanning two millenia.

This is one of my favourite books. It is a bit slow to start with, but I just love the idea that ancient myths and legends stem from truth. Magic in todays world is seen as something just showy and fun, I love reading about ways in which magic is used "for a reason". I would love to know that real magic existed! Magic aside... the past world Merryll is a part of, on the surface is so different to today's world, but the same basic problems arise! History really is doomed to repeat itself!

It would be fascinating to read a sequel to this book! Pity one wasn't written!
