What a surprise this book was. Had it for literally YEARS on my shelf and just read it this last few weeks. A big book with an incredible story. It's about magic and magicians and set in the early 19th Century..but reads like a true story. The true test of a novel I sometimes think. Not much else to say, except that this is a lovely book, beautifully written by a very clever and skilled writer. Highly recommended.
