I registered this book a little while ago with the intention of setting it free in the wild, as I am packing up my little flat in London and returning to Australia. With all the stress and excitement of moving, I hadn't got the chance to actually co-ordinate the release, so a message from Hellie requesting this book was a welcome surprise. I am sending this book to her in South Shields, and I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.

I really enjoyed Man and Boy because, despite his shortcomings, it wasn't hard to have some sympathy with Harry and the situation he was in. It was a great piece of writing on love and divorce in the late 20th century. The sequel, however, was disappointing. Harry seemed intent on messing everything up, constantly searching for something new and even more unable to settle down and grow up than in Man and Boy. I struggled to even like Harry at times when he seemed to be so determined to press the self-destruct button on his life that by the time he finally got his act together I just didn't care anymore. I found the story of his parents, a classic teenage sweethearts love story, much more enjoyable.
