I loved the Pelican Brief and The Client, so I had high expectations for this book. But unfortunately it didn't meet them.
I couldn't bring myself to like any of the characters in this book, either the judges or their victims. And even the political subplot seemed a bit contrived. I doubt that the Government would deal with the story in this way, I think they would probably be a lot more effective if something like this ever happened.
It did help me remember how complicated the electoral system is in the US. Guess some things stuck from that class on it a few years ago.
Thanks for the RABCK, bookworm2525, this book will now be available to anyone who wishes to read it.

Round and round and round we go... to the 2nd Portuguese Bookcrossing Convention book pool!
It's with me now.
I enjoyed reading this book, although it wasn’t of my favourites by this author.
A good tight plot and a fast paced narrative do a lot for the story, which has a lot of characters and none that you feel much sympathy for (except for the too obvious, and pretty useless, Buster).
The three crooked judges are so much fun to read about that I found myself wishing things would work out for them, even though they're really out of their depth and have no idea who they're messing with near the end of the story.
The whole primaries run part of the story shows how difficult and expensive it is to be a candidate for president in the US (the thing just goes on and on doesn’t it?).
The CIA boss Maynard is very much like the famous and quite real J. Edgar Hoover (a file on everyone and amazing leverage power with many politicians, not to mention the ability to arm wrestle all the presidents he served).
It’s worth reading although you won’t find any of the legal and court writing that Grisham does so well.
A very nice read and relaxing, good for a Summer week near the sea.
