An incredible, 5 star read. This book is about a typical swordfishing journey on a commercial boat through the eyes of a female swordboat captain. I finished the book way too fast and I am having trouble finding anything that even remotely compares in terms of having lots of action, good writing, and being able to learn something while reading.

RABCK! How kind - we're (DH & I ) kind of reading Linda's work a bit backward as we read Lobster Chorinicles, then All Fishermen are Liars and now will work our way through this one. when done it will follow the other 2 to Ikopiko in Germany as a pass it on RABCK.

update 6/28 - I've finished the book and enjoyed it and it's now moved onto DHs TBR (though he doesn't officially BC).

I've grabbed it today at the meetup in Aurich. As I've already read it in German I won't read it again but take it with me to Edinburgh next month to re-release it in an English speaking place ;-)

I didn't realize I'm the last station of Nordkind's Box for the time being... because I'm already absorbed by this book (page 88). I've seen some documentaries about this kind of fishing before. Reading from and about Linda Greenlaw further enlightens those pictures. I'm intrigued already...

Update, July 21th 2008: ... and I stayed that way right to the end. An extraordinary life and an extraordinary way to tell about it. I've read "The Perfect Storm (Der Sturm)" by Sebastian Junger afterwards – this book, too, came to me with the Box, and the two are going to travel on together.
