GREAT! Arrived just in time for my book club's reading of this books. Thanks Sally
A tough read for me. I felt the affair (been in her shoes) part of the book was obvious, but the story telling was wonderful, I read the whole thing in a short period relishing the mastery of Ms Shreve's writing. I didn't expect the twist in the tail though.
I am undecided if I would read another of her stories, they are a little tough on the emotions.
I did think the end was funny. If it had been a film it would say "To be continued....."

I finished reading this last night. For some reason, the relationship between Kathryn and Robert reminded me of "The Bridges of Madison County". Like Woosang, I wasn't surprised by news of the affair but the twist at the end certainly wasn't expected. I could definitely see a sequel being written about that.

couldn't put it down, Anita Shreeve did not disappoint, the characters were exquisitely portrayed and the plot kept tight, tender and sharp at the same time.
