Meet Kate Mackenzie. She:

*works for the T.O.D. (short for TyrannicalOffice Despot, also known as Amy Jenkins,Director of the Human Resources Divisionat the New York Journal)
*is sleeping on the couch because her boyfriend of ten years refuses to commit
*can't find an affordable studio apartment anywhere in New York City
*thinks things can't get any worse.

They can. Because:

*the T.O.D. is making her fire the most popular employee in the paper's senior staff dining room
*that employee is now suing Kate for wrongful termination, and
*now Kate has to give a deposition in front ofMitch Hertzog, the scion of one of Manhattan's wealthiest law families, who embraces everything Kate most despises ... but also happens to have a nice smile and a killer bod.

The last thing anybody -- least of all Kate Mackenzie -- expects to find in a legal arbitration is love. But that's the kind of thing that can happen when ... Boy Meets Girl.

I read this book back in Oct '04 and really enjoyed it. I love Meg Cabot's writing, so it was no surprise to me. It was a very quick and fun read, and I liked how the whole book is set in faux emails, instant messages, phone conversations, etc.

Rec'd yesterday evening. My first official bookcrossing bookray...

Really cute novel for fans of the first novel in this series by Meg Cabot. I'm sensing a pattern with Cabot's heroines--awkwardness (maybe there's hope for me yet).
I will say that I like the way this novel was written... No real dialogue--transcripts, answering machine messages and emails are it.

Will be sending to WintersQT4Ever

This was quite an addicting read, i never imagined I would finish it this FAST! It wasa page-turner and I was up late two nights in a row just cramming in 'one more page'. Luckily, I got it on break! The only downer was the end, some books i just hate it when they leave you hanging, like this one. Kate was a wonderful character though, and I have already asked for some other books such as The boy Next Door. I hope the rest of you like this. i plan to send it out ot bksfamly in the next two weeks.

Overall, I enjoyed this book, particularly as I got closer to the end. At first, I thought it to be a bit gimmicky because of its being written in the style of instant messages, e-mails, etc. -- I guess I've seen this technique utilized too many times before. As a result, I didn't feel like I knew the main character as well as I could have had the book been written at least in part in a more conventional manner. However, that being said, I must add that by the end of the book, my feelings had changed somewhat, and I was truly sorry to come to the end of Kate's story. I would recommend this book and this author.

I've reserved the book for bookaholic2. I should be able to mail it tomorrow. Thanks, opheliadrowned, for starting this ray.

St. Paul/MN/USA

The book showed up in my mailbox a couple days ago with perfect timing as I really haven't got a ton of other books I need to be reading. I going to have to set aside a couple of hours, make myself a cup of tea, and really enjoy this for the fluff that it is. :-D

St. Paul/MN/USA - I just finished this, and it is absolutely adorable. I am in a class where we read about a million books written in Letter and Diarie form, so I must confess that it did get on my nerves a bit. Nonetheless, it was a very enjoyable read and a must for any Meg Cabot fan. If anyone is looking for any recommendations, I would suggest Bookends by Jane Green as a lovely example of chick lit. Thanks everyone for getting the book to me, and if anyone knows someone who would like this book I am more than happy to send it on. Thanks again!
