The Beekeeper's Apprentice

Sherlock Holmes has retired and is living in the country when he meets Mary Russell, a quite surprising 15-year-old. She becomes his "apprentice" and the adventures begin. Inventive and clever - the first in this series. I have enjoyed all of the Laurie R. King books I have read.

Well, I didn't get very far into this book when a dear friend of mine lost her husband so unfortunately i haven't been able to finish it before i send it on to JadeR. I have put it on my "to get and read" list. So, my comments are on the first half of the book. I thoroughly enjoyed the style in which this book was written and i loved the converstational tit for tat.
Will be mailing this book out to Jade R early next week.

I never had the chance to finish this book, I got as far as Chapter 3 before putting it down. I just couldn't quite get into it and her writing. I guess I prefer modern mysteries more. This is my second Laurie King book and the first one (which I struggled to finish) was also awful.
Mailed to CB Crane last week.

received as part of a nervousness bookring, will read, update, and pass on.
Witty, well-written story. I enjoyed it and I pass it on to ladytonia with the hope that she enjoys it, too. Another cog in the nervousness bookcrossing mystery chain.
I enjoyed this very much. Have not read many Sherlock Holmes but enjoyed the interaction between Holmes and Mary Russell. Passing it on to the next nervous reader.
Just received this from ladytonia as my January installment for the mystery ring - Will try to read ASAP & pass along to kestralwing
Just received this in the mail as part of a mystery book ring. It looks like fun.
This is the first Laurie King book I've read, and I enjoyed it very much. I'm not a huge Sherlock Holmes fan, so will not look for her other Mary Russell books (one was enough), but will be requesting some of her other titles from the library. Thanks for the new author, too-little-time!
Passing it on to the next person in the book ring.

I got this in the mail today. It was quite a surprise. I wasn't expecting anything to be in my post office box. I think this is from a nervousness.org. bookring that I had to drop out of. I also got my original bookring book "1st to Die". I'll try to get to it soon and send it on to the next person in the ring.
