Whilst in Ireland for an International Song Competition, Tony Hawks was amazed to see a hitch-hiker, trying to thumb a lift, but with a fridge. This seemed amazingly optimistic - his Irish friends, however, thought nothing of it at all

I found this book on my husband's bedside table, after he picked it up at the local library, as part of BookCrossing promotional. He's yet to read it and I'm trying not to spoil all the good bits. A very, very funny book and inspiring in its spontenaity, even if that spontenaity is largely the result of a few lagers. An interesting insight into Ireland and the Irish.

I managed to get this book back from my wife, who read it before I did :-) I thoroughly enjoyed "Round Ireland with a fridge." Hawks' writing style is relaxed and humorous and his narrative held me captive from start to finish. I admire his developing philosophy (albeit based around a fridge!) of creating opportunities and making the most of random events. Highly recommended. We've just moved house from Perth to Canberra so I'm going to find somewhere to release the book now...
