Back: When voices in the night become whispers....
In the chill of an Oregon night, a man plunges to his death. Another
vanishes without a trace. A third drowns in the murky waters of a quiet
lake. Alone in the dark, a ruthless killer is certain that every loose
end has been cut, every enemy silenced except one....
It's been sixteen years since Claire St. John fled in terror from her
family's home on Lake Arrowhead. Sixteen years since her fiance's tragic
death and the shocking secret she promised never to reveal to anyone. But
that was before journalist Kane Moran began probing the mystery of that horrible
night, turning a light on the darkest corners of Claire's life, exposing her
once again to a cold-blooded murderer's vicious fury...
Now, as Claire returns home to face a past she's tried to forget, another
body is unearthed, revealing the twisted nature of a killer who is ready at last
to make Claire pay the ultimate price.....
This book surprised me. I was expecting a thriller/mystery like John Sandford or Jonathan Kellerman, which it was to an extent, but it had a lot more of a personal touch. Jackson really got into her characters and pitted them all against each other until the end when it was finally wrapped up. Need to see if another of her novels will interest me as well.
Sending this book as a trade to piper1 (for The Taking).
Thanks and Happy Reading.
Received this book in the mail yesterday from FifthElement as part of a trade. Thank you!! It looks great. And, thanks for all the little extras. FifthElement sent along 6 BCer labels to be put on other books to be released - cool pictures on them, and a BC bookmark!! Wow, what a pleasant surprise. Thank you very much.
Enjoy The Taking. I'll read Whispers and pass it on........
This book was unlike others of Lisa Jackson's that I've read. It was interesting, but I was a little disappointed that there wasn't more suspense. I remember her others as real page turners. She did develop the characters, you got to know them well. But the mystery was too easy to figure out and not enough suspense.
