Toast the story of a boy's hunger

Childhood memoir of acclaimed English food writer, Nigel Slater.
Fairly entertaining. This was a good holiday read.
Even though the book is set in the UK many of his stories brought back memories of my own childhood, Sunday roasts, pancakes, squishing mashed potato between the prongs of my fork and my first experience with parmesan cheese - I ate a spoonful straight out of the container - I'll leave what happened next to everyone's imagination !!!

Was listening to Radio 4 - Women's Hour while marking exams in Jinju, Korea when they mentioned Toast. I'd heard of it before, but the way the announcers talked about childhood food made me think of my own favourites. I moved from England to Canada when I was a teenager and now I'm here in Korea. On a recent visit to England I bought myself jelly and Angel Delight, which I've yet to make, and it seemed quite fitting that should I get myself a copy of Toast, then that would be a good time to make up the jelly and AD. Thank you mummafour for sending it to me.
