On the walk to the mailbox today I was briefly the center of a storm of robins. I guess Spring is upon us, despite the snow lingering in my woods. It's always such a pleasure to find a bookcrossing book in my mailbox! I'm looking forward to reading this as the aconites open in the sun.
What a delightful book. I loved it and stayed up late to finish it all in one night. I can't remember the last time I've done that (I can safely say that no aconites opened while I was reading this book). I thought the author did very well showing us his narrator's unusual view of the world. The writing is accordingly simple and straightforward and almost effortless to read, except for the equations. Speaking of which, I pretty much skipped the appendix, not being up for any deciphering in the late hours of the evening. I'd love to hear from someone who can comment on the joke it seemed to embody.
The book is set in a spare sans serif font. I don't often notice typography in books unless it's distracting. I must say this unusual choice of font seemed just perfect for the narrator's orderly little world. There are also little pictures and maps tucked in, which I think is charming. As you can see from the photo, my dog Ebumu didn't much like the cover art.
I will be recommending this book to friends. I've got Thanksmom's address, the book is all packed up already, and I will mail it out tomorrow. Thank you for sharing it, Moimeme! (edited to add that it was indeed mailed April 1, media mail)

I just got the book today and went right to reading it.
I found it to be especially interesting thanks to the style it is written in. The story had several 'lessons learned' involved and the way the story is told is a special lesson in itself. I don't know and don't care to know arguments about how accurate Haddon is in the portrayal of this handicap. I do think that this job of showing a difference in thinking and how others perceive it is worthwhile.
I would also recommend those who like this book to see about reading Flowers for Algernon by Daniel Keyes.

The book is heading to sublevel4 today.
Just arrived today. Thanks to ThanksMom for sending it to me and thanks to Moimeme for starting the bookring. TBR as soon as I am finished with the one I am reading now.
This was definitely a good read. Told in the "I"-form, but by a character with his own slightly different parameters (in this regard it proved somewhat illuminating to me).
My favourite moment in the book was when one of the characters put something brown into something red and Christopher's reaction to that (he really likes the colour red, but not the colour brown).
Anyway, it will be sent on its way today or tomorrow.

what an amazing book - a really unusual read but I loved it. It was so sad, because as an adult you can see things the protagonist just can't. A fascinating perspective. Well-deserved winner of awards. It was quite a fast read, and I found myself not wanting it to end.
Sending it on today.
