Ok so I finally got around to reading this book. It was soo compelling that I ended up reading it in three days (this is a huge feat for someone who generally reads a chapter before going to bed), I spent two nights staying up until 5am, I just couldn't put it down. In principle I shouldn't have even liked this book, everything about it at first glance had none of the attributes I look for in a book. Yet I loved it.
The book is about a woman who at the beginning of the book gets dumped by her boyfriend as they are driving towards a romantic getaway. She suffers what I can only call a midlife crisis. We follow her going home to her Mother who she hasn't seen in years, and her much younger sister (who has some serious issues) who is a little devil beauty pageant contestant. We see her going through the whole course of her breakdown and coming out on the other side a better person. There's some very funny moments, and it's a well written, considering the author is male, he really captured this character. I really enjoyable read.
