Received with thanks. I actually found the book a couple of weeks ago (typical)in a charity shop and had to buy it in case I didn't ever find it again but I didn't read it! So I will release my other copy of the book sometime and read this one instead!
Finally got around to reading this book. I was expecting the author, Evelyn, to be writing about her hell in an institution run by nuns, but on the whole they seemed to be very kind and caring.
Her mother abandoned her husband and six children for another man, leaving the father to cope by himself. He put the children into temporary care while he was in England looking for work but when he returned the government refused to let the children be handed back to him, so he took them to court.
The story is told from the viewpoint of the child and makes compelling reading. I enjoyed it anyway!
