The House on Mango Street

This, as they say, is a little gem of a book. It's being taught in many schools, but the spare, almost poetic style ("The green metal cage, the porcelain table top, the family that spoke like guitars...all gone.") of its glimpses into growing up in Latino Chicago resonate for all of us.

Book's gone!
I found the book under a mail box early am -went into the store to complete my task. Then returned the book was still there with a stickey note on the cover-Nothing's going right today- til now. I had to pick it up. Brought it into work and a co worker just read an article in the paper about Book Crossing. Things haven't been going right lately- it was a blessing to find this book. I plan to complete reading it- then pass it on. Perhaps in Sacramento when I go to visit next weekend.
