The Shadow of the Wind

An utterly engrossing mystery set in Barcelona during and after the Spanish civil war. This narrative of strong lights and dark shadows, with a stylised, symmetrical plot, offers the high drama of strong passions and star-crossed love within the harsh, rigid mores of Spanish Catholic society.
This may sound a little cheesy, but it's beautifully written and executed, a novel to be re-read.

Miketroll was a much loved and treasured Bookcrosser who sadly died in January this year. His family have passed on his books to be released in his memory. Mike was passionate about books and thoroughly enjoyed spreading his love of reading by dispersing his books through the Bookcrossing community. Hopefully a little of that magic will continue to travel through your enjoyment of one of his books.
