Arrived just as the taxi got here to take me to the airport!

This book took me ages to read! I found it quite heavy going, especially in the sections with no speech marks, it made it hard work to read when tired as I had to concentrate too hard on who was saying what to the detriment of the story. I thought that the characters' behaviour was illogical, and the reasons behind Molly's behaviour was not well explained. I also didn't feel that Martin was worth pining over for so many years!

Will pass this on to Decembermum.

What little I read of this book didn't inspire me to read on, and suddenly it's the 15th and I need to send it to Anfield

This got caught up in the Christmas post and took a week to get to me so sadly I have to forward it on unread. Another time maybe.

I agree that the lack of speech marks made the book difficult to read. I didn't particularly warm to the characters and found some parts weren't explained very well.

However, it was a nice gentle read and wasn't a book I would have picked up myself, so thanks for sending it.

An atmospheric read. the lack of speech marks didn't worry me but I wondered why they suddenly started half way through. The significance was lost on me. Also I like my books to tell me definitely what has happened at the end. Here I was surmising and not sure if I'd done it correctly, but probably that's because I haven't read it with enough attention. So the book was ok, but I felt constructed round an artist's work and therefore perhaps a bit contrived.

I got to page 115 and that was a slog :-( the speech marks thing confused me, especially where there were more than 2 characters in a scene and I found I had no sense of who the characters were or what they were like.

Returning to madmarchhare.
