This copy was printed in 1962, and what is surprising to me is the price tag. It has $5.95 printed on the front cover. That's how much I would expect to pay for a paperback now, but 40 years ago that would have been exorbitant!

I enjoyed this book. It took me much longer than normal to finish, but I was surprised by how funny it was. In a book considered a modern classic and set in a war, it just wasn't what I expected. I don't really know what to think about the end either. Maybe this book merits a second read, maybe I missed something, but I don't have time for that.

Caught this in the post today! I've never read this though I've heard so much about it. I'll set it on my TBR pile for now. (I'm surprised at the cost, too! $5.95 back in 1962! I hope it was worth it for whomever bought it...)
