An autographed copy of Ozark sayings that I bought from the author's lovely wife at Anne's Hallmark in Springfield.I always thought 'barking spiders' were only to be found in my home but come to find out they run rampant through the Ozarks.
This is on the way to my very good friend in New Zealand so she can understand me when I'm talkin'.
Oh, yes, this is a good one. A person should always make an effort to speak the language of the locals and this will come in handy if I ever get to Missouri. Mom used to use a fair bit of this dialect, which isn't too surprising since she's a country gal. Thanks for sharing this with me Alrescate...I'm off to find out what 'Barkin' spiders' are now. Hmmmm...
