Maria von Trapp really is too good to be true - I'm surprised the people around her didn't want to throttle her, she comes across so incredibly sickly sweet in this autobiography (of course, it probably didn't help that I kept seeing Julie Andrews in my mind's eye as I was reading).
However, it was interesting to read the original story - I must get the video of The Sound of Music out sometime and see how much they changed it.
