Well, this doesn't have proper details since it was published in the UK. Details are: ISBN 0-09-180151-6, Hardback edition, Hutchinson, 2000, Random House, London. The book came out in USA as "Revenge: A novel" (which pretty much sums up the plot) with ISBN 0812968190.
This isn't humorous Steven Fry. This is Steven Fry in your vicious little face. Through chance, someone falls into a hole deeper than they ever suspected existed. The book follows their struggle to survive and how they turn to vengeance. The writing is good, but this is a pretty single-minded book: beat someone with a hammer and you risk turning them into a sword, but what use is a sword when battle's done? Good for heavy ballast if you think of Mr. Fry as an entirely filigree writer. I rate him highly as a wordsmith and well as a thinker.

RELEASE NOTES:
I will throw this out at the Leeds meet. Stephen Fry deserves more readers than viewers. I think I was a little harsh about the book; it's still a smart read.

Many thanks for this. I've read, and enjoyed, all his other books and I'm interested to see what this one is like.
