Klaus Mann, the oldest son of Thomas and Katia Mann, was born in 1906 and emigrated 1933. His first exil station was Amsterdam, where is famous and controversial book "Mephisto" was published. As a soldier of the U.S. Army he took part in action in Northern Africa and Italy. In 1949 he died in Cannes through an overdose of sleeping pills.
His short stories deal with people searching for love, for adventure and for the meaning of life. These stories of longing reflect the "lost generation" of the 1920s.
