Book one of a trilogy. Bookreporter.com recommended this past summer as one to read if you like the Da Vinci Code. I haven't read so it's a brand new hardcover.

Released on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at about 8:00:00 AM BX time (GMT-06:00) Central Time (US & Canada) at RABCK to fellow Bookcrossing member in RABCK, A RABCK Controlled Releases.

Thank you so much for the RABCK, LoveTeaAndBooks, I've been wanting to read this since it came out. I already have the second in the series, though I haven't read it yet. This book looks wonderful, I can't wait to start it.
Thanks again.

Was very disappointed in this. If the reader loves science and history [and a writing style that gilds the gilded lily], they will love, or at least enjoy Quicksilver. I found it interminable, more a non-fiction treatise than a living, breathing novel. The first line is gripping and unfortunately the best in the book. So much of the book is tell and not show. You have to wade through so much erudition and didactic exploration of science and physics that the story and the characters get lost. Diana Gabaldon has many similar themes in her writing, but she does not allow her facts to overwhelm the story. Stephenson seems incapable of writing a simple sentence such as "He walked across the room." First of all, he would find the word "walked" too basic, and he would feel compelled to explain to the reader the origin of the word "walked" and all its connortations. Same with "room". But looking at the reviews on bn and Amazon it's obvious that lots of people love this book, so I hope this finds a welcome home!
