Heart Full of Lies : A True Story of Desire and Death
1 journaler for this copy...
A lifetime of sociopathic manipulations and lies had been expertly hidden behind Liysa Northon's facade of perfection - as was her rage to destroy any obstacle to her ultimate happiness, even if it was the man she vowed to love forever.
I got about half-way through this before I had to just put it down.
Liysa Northon killed her husband, so she's obviously not up for Person of the Year. I knew I wouldn't like her, but I was surprised to find out that I think I *hate* her! So much so that I could not continue reading this book. I have never read about such a sociopathic, manipulative "beeyatch" before! When contrasted with the near-universal positive descriptions of Chris Northon, I was perplexed....no, I was dumbfounded as to why he would have put up with her for as long as he did, and how he didn't catch even a glimpse of the real her.
The sheer unlikeability of this person ruined an otherwise good book. Ann Rule knows how to get to the bottom of a story, and show the people for what they really are. I think she's succeeded here a little too well, unfortunately, because I wanted nothing more to do with Liysa Northon before I'd even gotten to the middle of the book.
If you can get past Liysa Northon's base unlikeability, then you will probably like this book.
