About a pilot's wife, living in New England with her husband and daughter, who is suddenly widowed. The death of her husband seems to filled with mystery and intrigue and I think much of the story takes place in Ireland but I haven't read it yet.

Picked from the book table at the UnConvention in Brighton. I've only recently discovered Anita Shreve, and have enjoyed the two I've read so far.

This is a story of loss and betrayal. The first half conveys, in Shreve's beautiful prose, the beginning of the grieving process for Kathryn, the pilot's wife, after the loss of her husband. But then she begins to suspect that she didn't know him as well as she thought she did, and flies to London, where she is able to unravel the fabric of his life away from her. I did have an inkling of what she was going to discover but that didn't spoil my enjoyment of the story, which is quite a quick read.

I work at Banham Zoo and this book was picked up by a colleague. It was handed into the office and I picked it up, saw it had been book crossed, so took it home! Am about to start reading and will add more when finished.

Journal Entry 9 by Tempebrennan on Tuesday, April 8, 2008
Its very well written and the plot is intriguing. Once started had to finish the book which is a good sign of a good book. Have passed this book to a friend who may or may not release it.
