Malta. Summer 1551. Here in a brilliant arena clouded by corruption and violence, Francis Crawford of Lymond finds himself precipitated into an intricate and potentially lethal duel with Graham Reid Malett, a man famed for his virtues.
Third book setting out on its journey. Apologies for the delay in posting.

Arrived in the post today.
Thank you!
Thank you!
Yet another superb instalment in the Lymond chronicles. Dunnett has woven another densely plotted thriller. Such is her style, and the charismatic appeal of Lymond, that although the reader becomes increasingly convinced that Lymond has lost the plot, especially towards the end of the novel, one never quite loses faith in Lymond himself.
There’s a fair amount I’d like to comment on, but can’t because I don’t wish to pre-empt the plot!
Thank you again Mastuela.
I'll be putting this in the post to Katweeble this week.

Will be able to start this fairly soon - have never read a book based in Malta so this will be doubly interesting

I found this the easiest read so far - maybe I have settled into her style of writing now. I also enjoyed the story - and the twists at the end. Lymond is so cool. Will post to MoJeDenUk tomorrow
Thanks Katweeble. I received the book in the post today (along with the two packets of chocolate buttons, which I will eat tomorrow, and a lovely little booklet called "funny countries" which I have just noticed has it's own BCID Number!!! I'll read and pass it on! Back to the latest Lymond epic then. I will probably start it tomorrow. It may take a little longer to read because I started a (boring) temp job today and if today is anything to go by I will be returning home tired, grumpy and unable to concentrate too much on books! Will save for weekend reading.
The packets of chocolate buttons are only 5 weightwatcher points each and I've saved 20 points for the weekend, yessss!!!!! Thanks again Katweeble for the choccie and Mastulela for the bookray.

Again, I liked the book in fits and starts. It didn’t hold my attention as much as I would have liked and was quite relieved when I finally reached the last page this afternoon! Having said that, there were some interesting moments...
I shall persevere to the end of the chronicles though and I think, by the way this book finished, the next book could have some interesting confrontations.
