Thoreau decided to leave the life of the city in Boston in the mid-1800's to get back to the simplest living he could enjoy. Starting from scratch, he made a house, a garden; a living, and shared with us his observations of daily life and the changing seasons in a style that is pleasant and enjoyable to read.
Excellent book. It's one of those books that you can read more than once.
