not my cuupa tea but i can understand how people would like it. A spoofy, comic-strippy kinda hard-boiled crime fiction set in Aberystwyth, Wales. Splendid cover art.
Sending this to Jubby as part of the Sydney/Leeds meetup exchange, i'm sure it will find the right reader.

Received in the post today, and will read myself before releasing at the Sydney meetup.
Thank you Shylock.

Caught at this month's meetup!
Looks like a rather amusing spoof on hard boiled detective novels. Set in Wales. Of course. As they all are.
The back cover blurb made me laugh, so hopefully this'll be a good light summer read!

Not a bad read, I definitely kept on turning the pages. A few laughs, but I think there would have been more if I'd known more about modern Wales! (My knowledge of Wales is from your standard fantasy novel. Gorgeous language, mists, King Arthur. That sort of thing. Oh, and welsh accents make me all weak at the knees. Dead sexy.) Who knew that icecream and bingo are all the rage in Wales??
I did like the names, Myfawny Montez in particular.
I shall take this back to meetup tonight!

Caught at meetup at the Civic. A Noir-ish cover but it's set in Wales... I really can't imagine what to expect. Intriguing!
I pinched this from Fleebo before she had a chance to read it. The cover intrigued me, as did the idea. Now that I've read it I'm trying to decide whether I like it because it's quirky and offbeat, or don't like it because it tries too hard to be odd. Back to you Fleebo.
Ok, first things first. Does anyone know how to pronounce Aberystwyth? All I know for sure is that it's Welsh, and therefore I'm saying it wrong.
This goofy little book is a noir detective story in a quiet seaside town, where the ice cream man offers sage advice, the local heavies are the Druid sect (about as threatening as Rotary), and for insider information on missing schoolboys one travels no further than the bingo hall. And apparently, tea cosies have another use that is not mentionable in public - which is the real reason why every little store in town sells them.
Peculiar, but quite good fun. I have just discovered that it is the first of four books featuring the same PI.

Had to pick this one up, because MrPloppy comes from a town not far from Aberystwyth!

Ab - er - rist - with (very roughly, and with apologies to any Welsh speakers)
Wonderfully funny book (even funnier if you've ever been to Aberyswyth, which is a very sleepy seaside town). I had hoped to finish it while we were still in Wales so I could release it there, but didn't quite manage - I finished it on the train back to London.
I'll find somewhere interesting to release it, though.
