What you have in your hands is an honest-to-goodness gift, no strings attached. You may keep it forever and ever, pass it on to a friend, or release it in the wild like I did. I know it may seem a little odd to find this lying around--it's my way of touching the lives of others in a positive way, with the hope that it made your day. :)

Well well, a book completely out of the blue! I really know very little about Joan Crawford, so this should be an interesting read. Thanks to k00kaburra!

Joan Crawford is one of thos old actresses I don't know much about and haven't seen many of her films, so it was sometimes hard to picture her when I read about her in this book written by her daughter.
Sometimes a hard book to read. Christina (or Tina) had a strange love/hate relationship with her mother. She portrayed herself as the perfect child, always trying to please her mother and not succeeding only because of her mother's unrealistic expectations and drunkenness. But you've got to wonder if she really could have been such the "Perfect" child she described. I don't doubt that it was hard to be the daughter of a movie star and a movie star that sounded as though she had some sort of self-worth issues.
Some of the book sounded a bit too much like whining: "I had such a hard life..." That's what you get with autobiographies though!

Thank you so much! When the books arrived I realized that I hadn't sent you postage yet. Ack! If you haven't gotten it yet, then it's on the way. :-( I'm really sorry, I completely forgot. Thank you so much for the books!
I have actually read this one before but it has been forever ago, so I will enjoy reading it again. Thank you!

I am going to pass this one on, I read it a while ago and I just have too many other books to read! Joan Crawford was a wonderful actress, but it seems like even in her personal life she was an actress. I remember feeling really sorry for Christina. My mom and my husband were both adopted, so I am really grateful their parents weren't anything like Joan Crawford.
My two favorite Joan Crawford movies are: Whatever Happened to Baby Jane? and Strait-Jacket
Joan Crawford (1905-1977)

*another excited scream!!* I have been searching for this book since I first saw the film about 15 years ago! This is wonderful! I'm very grateful to you for another fantastic wishlist book! And thank you also for the lovely birthday card!
This book really gets behind the perfect mother image projected by Joan Crawford. What makes this slightly different is that Tina offers the names of witnesses who saw her mother's rage and brutal treatment of her which makes you think there is more fact than fiction to her ordeal.
Sending as a rabck. Enjoy!
Thank you very much for the wish list book, Chucklesthescot! I have not seen the film, but I wish to read the book. And now it is possible.

So I took this book from Winter of Old Books-event in our Bookcrossing-meetup. Gonna read it as soon as possible
What a book. What a horrible woman this Joan Crawford. I wonder was her behaviour a little bit exaggerated by Christina. I haven't seen any of Joan Crawford's movies though. Sometimes this book was hard to read because of Christina's experiences but sometimes much easier. Thick book and once again a autobiography which I have read now few of them. Anyway, now this is finally ready to wait for next reader and next BC-meetup.
