It's here! Thanks Jamesmum! Arrived home from yet more Christmas shopping to find a parcel of books on my doorstep. I am looking forward to this one, having enjoyed A Gracious Plenty by the same author. And yes Libragirl you are welcome to it after me.

First a brief synopsis from the back of the book -
At the Church of Fire and Brimstone and Gods Almighty Baptizing Wind, Grandpa Herman makes the rules for everyone, and everyone obeys, or else. Try as she might, Ninah can't resist her prayer partner, James, and finds herself pregnant. She fears the wrath of Grandpa Herman, the congregation and God Himself. But the events that follow show Ninah that God's ways are more mysterious than even Grandpa Herman understands.

Another great book by this author, I don't know why I haven't heard of her before or why she isn't more widely known (here in NZ at least).
A very compelling read, beautiful written with a wonderful thoughtful ending. Sometimes sad and sometimes shocking -some of the penances were pretty awful -but very believable, the book is told through the eyes of Ninah, aged 15 but who had the wisdom of someone much older. This book gives you more of an understaning on how religious cults take over their congregations lives.
I will have to find out what else Sheri Reynolds has written and add it to my wishlist!
Thanks again for sharing this Jamesmum and I will get it to you soon Libragirl.
