Pre-numbered label used for registration.
I'm releasing this one privately today to another Bookcrossing member who is looking for Amy Tan books. This book was published in 1995 and I thought it was a better book than the later "Bonesetter's Daughter."

It is a cool, gray day here. What a pleasant surprise to have a nice book in the mail box.
The book is in perfect shape, just like brand new. After I read it will continue its journey.

Happy to receive this nice quality HB book in the mail today from BC friend cadumcadum!
Nice journey for this book: Arizona to Missouri to California.

I really enjoyed Amy Tan's first book Joy Luck Club. Looking forward to reading this one.

Thanks so much - to both cadumcadum and Bookwoman28!

Amy Tan has a wonderful ability to bring the reader into the mind/culture of some Chinese-Americans characters we care about.
Still remember the impact of the first - Joy Luck Club - maybe because it was the first.
But this book had its own cumulative power for me. Set in San Francisco and China today, the familiar challenges of family, love, marriage are juxtaposed with Chinese heritage, dreams, dialog, secrets, perspectives.
Even the cover designs added to the pleasure of reading this book.
Sending on to BCer FutureCat in New Zealand - with thanks again to cadumcadum for sharing it.

Arrived safely in New Zealand today (a lot quicker than I thought it would get here!).

Thanks, JDT - I'm looking forward to reading it (once I clear a couple of bookring books off my TBR pile, of course...) - and how cool to get a book set in San Francisco sent to me from somewhere just outside San Francisco!

A fascinating story about how Chinese traditions about ghosts and reincarnation interact with modern American life. Thanks, JDT, I really enjoyed reading this.

I'll see who I can pass it on to next...

Released on Tuesday, December 09, 2003 at Dux de Lux in Christchurch, Canterbury New Zealand.

At tonight's meetup.

I think this was taken by a couple of women who we showered with books when they stopped to look at a few that the meerkitten had put on a nearby table. They were going to take the books back to Wellington with them.
