The Hundred Secret Senses revolves around two sisters: Olivia, the narrator, and Kwan, her half-sister, the "Girl With Yin Eyes" who believes she can see into worlds beyond and talk with the dead. The relationship of the two, which is deep-yet-strained, and their story reflects their lives as modern-day Chinese Americans, parallel lives in rural China, future predictions and otherworldly, mythological passages. Engrossing, funny, sad, and yet ultimately hopeful, you'll think about this book long after you finish reading it.
