A collection of recollections of orphans and children in care from the 1880s to 1950s, loosely edited together under various themes (clothing, food, discipline, etc). Interesting, but depressing to read.

I had heard about bookcrossing but never actually thought I would find one. Surprise. On my way to work I walk past St Mary's Cathedral and go in occasionally. I was deciding whether to go in that day when I looked up the stairs and there she was. I knew instantly that it was a bookcrossing book before I even got close enough to read the note on the front. Just sitting on the step waiting for me. So picked it up and went into the church. . .
