I really enjoyed this book. A well written and moving account of life in a village during the Great Plague.

The blurb-
Spring 1666: when the Great Plague reaches the quiet Derbyshire village of Eyam, the villages make an extraordinary decision. They elect to isolate themselves in a fateful quarantine. So begins the Year of Wonders, seen through 18 year old Anna Frith's eyes as she confronts the loss of her family, the disintegration of her community, and the lure of a dangerous and illicit love.

Mananged to get this back from my husband and really enjoyed reading it. There seemed to be a few programmes on the TV about plagues recently, and so it added to the images that the book conjured up it my mind. A beautifully written book about a villages desperate struggle. I'm now reading Hot Zone which is about the potential of an Ebola virus outbreak!!! I'll become paranoid about spreading germs soon.
Thanks for sending it on. Once my husband now finishes it, I am sending it to Jellington in Brunei.

A friend gave it to me at our Book Club and I am now passing it on to another Book Club friend as I enjoyed it so much. Hopefully she will pass it on and it will continue its journey. It was a great insight into how they lived, how hard it was and how small their world was. It was a great ending - she deserved to find happiness! Our Book Club compulsorily read Life of Pi last year and the comments were amazing. It never ceases to amaze me how differently people perceive a book. Personally, I enjoyed it but others thought it rubbish.
